Do you have a catalog you can mail me?
At this time, Lightology does not have a catalog to mail out to customers. We do, however, have specification sheets from all of our suppliers that can be download from our website as needed.

Custom Fixtures

Does Lightology offer custom fixture design?
Yes, Lightology does have customization capabilities. We work with hundreds of manufactures from around the world (From Italian glass 200 fixture min. to local art glass 25 fixtures min.) to produce the exact fixture you desire. We also have engineers on staff that can draw up just what you need. We will need to know the quantity that you are interested in, the time frame in which you are working and what exactly you need. Please fax us a drawing or concept to 773-883-6131, or email us your drawing to info@lightology.com

Shipping

How much will my shipping charges be?
Lightology offers free ground shipping on all retail web lighting orders over $50, shipped within the continental U.S. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and internationally are available for an additional fee. Next Day Delivery is also available for an additional charge -- the amount will be added to your order as you proceed to checkout, and will be determined by the state your order will ship to. Sorry, free shipping does not apply to mirrors or furniture.

For Trade orders, a shipping charge equal to 8% of the order price will be assessed.

Can Lightology ship products internationally?
We can ship items internationally. Freight quotes will be done on a per order basis. Once we receive your order, we will determine the freight charges and notify you promptly. All freight & duty charges on international orders were the responsibility of the customer. You can also have us ship to a freight forwarder of your choosing.

Returns

What is Lightology's return policy?

Returns may be made, but will require a valid RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. RGA numbers may be requested online or by contacting customer service at 773-883-6111 during business hours Monday through Friday 9:00-5:00 CST. You will need to provide the following information:

Name & Full address
Order number
Items to be returned
Reason for return

Once a valid RGA number is received, the number must be written on the outside of all packages to be returned. Packages received without a valid RGA # referenced on the outside of the box will be returned to the shipper.

Please pay close attention to the following items:

  • Please check all your boxes as soon as you receive them. Lightology cannot be responsible for any missing or damaged goods if we are not notified within 24 hours from time received.
  • Sale items are not eligible for returns. Defective sale products will be repaired or replaced at the company's discretion.
  • Returns for STOCK items will only be accepted within the first 30 days of receipt of goods. All returns must be accompanied by a sales receipt and be in original condition with original carton and packaging. If the item is not in original condition with all original packing, it will not be accepted. Non-Stocked Items returned within 30 days of receipt may have up to 50% restocking charge of the List Price.
  • Items that have been installed or not in original carton or packaging are not returnable.
  • We will credit your account within 3 business days once a return has been inspected and is determined to be valid.

Damage

What if my order was damaged during shipment?
Please inspect your merchandise immediately upon delivery, and report any damage to the company within 24 hours of receipt. Customer bears full responsibility for any damage not reported within this 24-hour period.

We recommend hiring a qualified electrician to install your lighting fixtures. Lightology is not responsible for any damage or defects due to faulty installation.

Emailing Blueprints

Can I email you or send you my blueprint and have LIGHTOLOGY do the lighting layout and quote?
Yes, you can! Lightology has AutoCad 2000, so you can email us your drawings by using this web form. You can also mail drawings to 1718 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago IL 60614. Lightology has 1 Master Electrican and 6 ALA Lighting Specialists on staff, as well as 3 people who have been certified through the IES. Our owner Gregory Kay, who also founded Tech Lighting, has won two of the top international lighting design awards -- the 1988 Guth award and 2000 LightFair Best New Fixture award.

We will quote your based on your blueprints at no charge, for homes. Design Illuminations -- Lightology's in-house lighting design firm -- can also create custom lighting designs for you. Contact Drew Goldman by phone at 312-229-7437 or by email at drew@designilluminations.com for rates.

Murano Glass

What is Murano Glass?
Murano refers to an island off of Venice on the east coast of Northern Italy. It has been a center for glass making for over a thousand years. The first known document speaking of glass artisans in Murano was written in AD 982. By 1224 there was a guild of glass blowers and in 1271 there are documents regulating the production of glass. The artistry and craft of glass blowing was passed down from father to son, and became a trade exclusively for those born on the island of Murano - where all of the factories were moved from Venice 1291 to avoid fire. To say that glass is in Murano's blood would be a true statement. To this day, glass from Murano is renowned all over the world for its unsurpassed quality and sophistication.

Repairs

Does Lightology perform repairs on fixtures not covered under warranty?

Items not under warranty will be inspected to determine if it can be repaired. After inspection, you will be provided with the total cost to repair the fixture. This cost shall include labor, @ $42 per hour, as well as all materials with one-hour minimum charge.

We will only perform repairs on fixtures that were purchased from Lightology. Before returning an item to be repaired, please contact out customer service department for a valid RGA number. The same policies apply to items returned for repairs as noted above.

How do I place an order?
Go into the Online Store and place the items you want to purchase into your cart, then proceed to check out. If you do not already have an account and password, you will be directed to the Your Account section to create an account. If you are a design professional, please fill out the Designer Registration Form and fax it to us at 773-883-8714 along with the required identification and we will get back to you.

Price Match

What is Lightology's Price Match Guarantee?
Lightology wants you to be confident that you are receiving the best prices anywhere by shopping with us. If you find the same exact product advertised for less by one of our competitors within 30 days of your purchase, we will gladly match that price including shipping and handling.

Please note that our Price Match Guarantee applies only to the identical product from the same manufacturer. The competitor must be an authorized dealer of the product and it must be a stock item, available for shipment and not on extended back order. A website link or written quote from the competing vendor for the same product(s) shipped to the same address must be sent to Lightology. Project Manager

Once you've created an account with us, you'll be able to access this special area of the site where you can organize, store and share information about any of your current projects. Design Professionals, this section will give you access to special Trade Privileges not open to the general public. You'll be able to add products to your customized projects, generate tear sheets complete with pricing information and thumbnail photos of fixtures, and even send links to your associates or clients showing them detailed information regarding your project. If you haven't already opened an account with us, create one now!

What is Project Manager?
Project Manager is a tool that you can use to coordinate and specify lighting on any project. Using the Project Manager allows orders to be delivered to your job site marked with specific location information on each fixture, so when they arrive the crew on the job site can easily see what goes where. You will be able to label your selections with a fixture type (ie: Kitchen = Type A), print a fixture schedule, and complete lighting specification packet for your projects. You can upload your logo for professional presentations, and email projects to clients, electricians, or contractors.

Quantity Discounts

Do you offer quantity pricing?
Yes, Lightology may offer quantity pricing for some orders. Generally a minimum quantity of 50 units of the same fixture need to be ordered to qualify for the discount.

Sales Tax

Do I have to pay sales tax on my purchase?
If you are locatd in the state of Illinois and do not have a resale tax ID number, then you will be charged sales tax on your purchase. If you are located outside of the state of Illinois, no sales tax will be charged.

Searching Site

How do I search for a particular product?
You can type a keyword into the search field found at the top of the screen in the Online Store, or you can go to the Advanced Search and select more detailed criteria for your search.

Can I limit my search to in-stock products only?
Yes, go to Advanced Search and click on button that says "in stock only." The inventory is updated every 3 minutes so you can be sure it is correct.

Warranty

Do I have a warranty on my purchases?

All items--excluding bulbs--are offered with one year warranty. Any defective item that is returned within one year of purchase will be repaired or replaced at the company's discretion.

Repairs for items that are still under warranty will be covered at no charge. A copy of sales receipt may be required if the sales transaction cannot be found in our computer system.
