“I love the simple mid-century feel of the IC Wall/Ceiling from Flos. It has a decent scale to it and offers 75 watts of halogen light. This fixture looks great in a series going down a hallway or vestibule. It's also offered in table, floor and pendant versions.”

“Whether you have a traditional or contemporary home, you have to look at your ceiling as a blank canvas, since 99% of the time ceilings are painted a plain flat white. I love Venetia Studium's Scheherazade 3 Tier Geometric Ceiling Mount, since this fixture is hand painted and hand crafted in Italy by artists. Whether installed as a suspension or a ceiling flush, this beautiful hand-painted fixture is the first thing that catches your eye the moment you walk in the room. Scheherazade enhances the look of contemporary and traditional spaces alike, even though the fixture itself leans more towards the traditional side.”

“I call this the life saver fixture because its very clean and simple look can go in any nearly any room in any scenario kitchens, hallways, bedrooms, clothing closets, you name it. It goes well in both contemporary and semi-contemporary homes and designs. It is offered in a 7 inch version that is perfect for clothing and walk-in closets, and the 12in, 15in and 18in versions are great for applications that require more illumination, keeping the size of the room in mind. For Title 24 California code applications, the 12in, 15in and 18in versions are available in the fluorescent versions. If dimming is necessary, the Halogen versions are perfect. The Satin Ceiling Mount by Edge Lighting is a very simple, clean ceiling mount fixture that can be used in any room.”

“The Ripple is one of my favorite ceiling lights because it's perfect for lower ceilings. You can still get a chandelier effect when you don't have room for a chandelier. The rippled glass makes a beautiful light pattern on the ceiling, and the crystals can go either way-a little modern, a little traditional. It's just pretty!”

“This is definitely my favorite ceiling light because it's sparkly without hanging down too much. It's modern but still fun-the mercury glass on the outside gives a great illuminating effect and can liven up a simple room.”

“The Middlebury has a very rich, vintage, classy look. It's great for traditional interiors, especially if you have a low ceiling. The Polished Nickel version looks great in bathrooms, bedrooms, and every other room of the house.”

“The Vision series is one of my favorites because of the sheer range of available models: square or round; LED, halogen, or fluorescent; and several size options. I've used this fixture in one version or another in almost every room in the house. From walk-in closets to bathrooms to bedrooms to kitchens, this fixture works practically anywhere. The 9.5" square version is 200 watts of halogen light, making it especially bright for its size. The LED versions are fairly recent and are just as bright as their halogen counterparts, with the added advantage of saving money in energy costs and also not having to change bulbs for many years.”

“The Capito Rectangular Ceiling/Wall fixture is a truly elegant design both contemporary and artistic in looks. This fixture from our Lightology Collection has a polished stainless steel finish with a brushed stainless steel housing and comes in square and suspension versions as well. A total of 200 watts of Halogen light, it's a great source of light. The Capito is a great looking fixture for that little bit of pop you need for the space you are lighting.”

“The 2602/2603 Ceiling Light from the Lightology Collection is great. I love the shape of the glass and the shadows it throws on the ceiling to create movement and interest in the space. Best of all, it's available in 5 colors to fit any style.”

“Like most all of Slamp's products, this is a beautiful ceiling fixture formed of polycarbonate (a type of high-quality plastic material) and comes in several interesting and fun color combinations. I really like this for a kid's room because of the colors, but it would look great in other contemporary rooms, too. It takes two 20 watt fluorescent bulbs, which is equivalent to about 180 watts of incandescent light.”

“The Smithfield utilizes a single high-wattage halogen bulb that offers exceptional lumen output, making it an ideal solution for high task areas. What makes this fixture stand out to me is the quality of the diffuser, which does an exceptional job of creating even light distribution while preventing very concentrated "hot spots" that can be visually distracting. While simple in design, the details are exceptional. The Smithfield is also available in a ceiling mount.”

“The Tresor from Terzani is really a piece of art as well as a functioning light fixture. The hand-made detail in the overlapping "coin" pattern gives the light a fun place to bounce off of and shine through. The halogen bulbs are located above the lower disc shining up onto the upper disc which has a really pleasant indirect ambiance to it. It's a unique fixture!”

“This ceiling fixture has a definite mid-century-modern vibe with its chrome banding and the coarse cream linen fabric. I also like the Butler because it takes three 60 watt bulbs, which is quite bright for the size of the fixture. Even though it's a bit mid-century-modern, it can also blend into transitional interiors easily.”

“Truly my favorite monorail fixture ever love the minimalist and vaguely Art Deco lines, and sleek cylinder shape. I really like that it can hold up to two accessories such as a glare-control louver and various lenses. Thanks to the FastJack system, it's easily adaptable to regular track or mounted on a canopy as a single fixture. I especially love the polished nickel finish, but it's also available in brushed nickel or bronze.”

“This entire collection of chandeliers is fantastic! I'm focusing on the 16 inch version, because of its versatility. This piece can be hung on an individual polished nickel or satin nickel Edge canopy or it can be used on a monorail system. It is clean and light and airy. The 16 inch Crystal Galaxy can easily be used in a small foyer, in a pair over a kitchen island or dining room table, or my favorite - directly over a bath!”

“This contemporary chandelier has quickly become one of my favorites. It looks like a sculptural work of art - as well as a functioning fixture. This piece is made up of a cluster of twenty-six 10watt xenon bulbs for a wonderfully bright fixture. The design of the round crystal with the metal center conceals the lamp so its visually pleasing to the eye.”

“This fixture is perfect for the front entry or foyer. Give your guest a magical first impression. This fixture is available with either gold or silver foil and real Swarovski crystal drops that create a beautiful rain image. The halogen lamps provide enough illumination and add sparkle to the ceiling.”

“The Alina is a stunning piece of art glass with a beautiful organic shape. It takes a 50w halogen bi-pin bulb that gives lots of light for over a kitchen countertop or when used in place of wall sconces in a bathroom. There are five colors available, but my favorite is Smoke, with the Steel Blue a close second. All colors have a neat clear glass part above the translucent colored glass.”

“This fixture is simply stunning from its simple curved mirror outside glass to the center cluster of pretty and modern crystal drops. There's a ton of light given off from the five 40w halogen bulbs. The outside glass appears as mirror when the light is off but the bulbs show through when on-and the glass has a taupe-gray tint that's very pleasing.”

“If you want to make a statement in a room, but have low ceilings, this light is what you are looking for. This piece has a contemporary design to it, but can work in many different homes and styles. Almost flush to the ceiling, the Spin Ceiling fixture offers a great amount of light. This fixture looks great in foyers, living rooms, bedrooms and anyplace you want to have a 'Wow' factor. Comes in different sizes and is fully dimmable.”

“The Everest has a unique look, using a clear or platinum outer glass that houses an inner crystal piece with a more organic shape. The MR11 downlight provides a nice pool of light on the surface below the fixture, making it great for kitchen islands. The Everest Pendant is also very tall, a nice getaway from the typical small pendants you usually see.”

“The Crystal Galaxy happens to be my favorite fixture overall. This chandelier looks like a piece of jewelry hanging from your ceiling - it's certainly a conversation piece. It's made of delicately curved wires with crystals that hang from the tips like dew drops on a summer's morning. There is a halogen down light centered in the chandelier to help give more light on the surface below and a total of sixty 2 watt lamps placed behind each crystal.”

“If you're looking for something transitional with a modern twist, check this out. It's beautifully finished and hand blown glass. You can see the high-end quality in this product. A client of mine ordered 3 of the ceiling mount version for their long entry hallway. They loved the fixtures, so they decided to purchase the matching wall sconces for their powder room. The ceiling mount is perfect for a space where you want to hang a chandelier, but your ceiling isn't high enough. It's also great for that walk-in closet or vestibule when you need something to dress up the space!”
