|
| With new light sources, sustainable design trends, control options,
and the recent understanding of how light impacts human health, effective lighting
design not only positively impacts facilities' aesthetics goals, but also their bottom
line. Lighting can impact attraction of patients and staff, reduce demands on an
over-stretched staff, improve patient outcomes, reduce maintenance and operating costs,
and increase patient satisfaction in this increasingly competitive healthcare climate.
But effective lighting must also address patient and staff visual needs, special room
construction restrictions, infection control concerns, and patient safety issues.
Creating pleasant spaces that function in demanding healthcare environments can be a
delicate balancing act.
