Contemporary Lighting:
Tech Lighting, MonoRail Lighting, Low Voltage Lighting, & Cable Lighting
Lightology is the largest and most progressive collection of contemporary lighting in North America. The head of the company, Gregory Kay, founded Tech Lighting manufacturing in 1983. At Tech Lighting he designed many classic low voltage lighting pieces including MonoRail, Kable Lite, and Freejack. His efforts were rewarded with the lighting industry's top honors: the IESNA/IIDA Edwin F. Guth Award of Excellence in Lighting Design (1988), the 1999 Lightfair International Award for Best New Product Design (for his hand-bendable "Symphony" chandelier), the IESNA International Illumination Design Award of Merit (1997), the Chicago Lighting Institute Award of Merit for Lighting Excellence (1994) and the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award for Johnny and Wishbone KableLite fixtures (1992). Tech Lighting went on to become the number one low voltage lighting manufacturing company in the USA, selling to over 800 lighting showrooms nationwide.
In 2001, after MonoRail and other Tech Lighting products achieved the status of industry standards, Kay sold the manufacturing side of Tech Lighting to focus on Lightology, where he could import from the world's top contemporary lighting manufacturers and also design a Lightology Collection. With his knowledge and highly-trained sales staff, it's no surprise that the new company is Tech Lighting's largest showroom distributor, doing twice the business of any other single lighting showroom. Based in Chicago, Lightology now has an outstanding selection of quality contemporary lighting fixtures, both low voltage and line voltage, from over 400 manufacturers including Artemide, Baldinger, Flos, Foscarini, Halo, Juno Lighting, Itre, Illuminating Experiences, Louis Poulsen, Oggetti, Luce Plan, Modern Fan, Leucos, Lightolier, LBL Lighting, Tiella, Victor Lighting and Venetia Studium, Schonbek and Tech Lighting is always in stock. Design masters such as Mariano Fortuny, Philippe Starck and Isamu Noguchi are well represented. Visitors can shop our spectacular 20,000 sq. ft. Chicago showroom, or our website which features a live inventory that is constantly growing, and a Project Manager layout tool that lets you easily lay out larger lighting projects. At Lightology, our goal is simple: to be the premier contemporary lighting company for both homeowners and design professionals. Browse our selection of over 16,000 modern lighting products.
