Rooftop Garden

Lightology’s rooftop garden is a lush escape from the city streets below. Visitors
enjoy a lovely skyline view amid garden boardwalks and planters constructed
from the sustainable Brazilian hardwood ipe. The garden is fully landscaped with
flowers and shows off a variety of exterior lighting fixtures, including recessed
LED tiles set in the stone patio. There is a full bar and serving area as well as an
audio system with concealed speakers, and a raised platform for a band. The
garden is open to the public and can accommodate parties of up to 250.
Professional Multipurpose Space

Lightology offers a flexible function area to cater to the needs of the design community.
Full A/V equipment and optional tables and chairs for groups of up to 50 make our 3rd floor
space ideal for industry events. We use it as a classroom for continuing education or
professional certification seminars. It is also perfect for product training sessions, parties
or any outreach event for the design community. Simultaneously it is a commercial lighting
fixture showcase, and in the near future it will be outfitted for videoconferencing.
Morpheus Room

Our ultra-modern space is named after the classical god of dreams - visit and you'll see why. We have taken technology, architecture and lighting design to the limit to deliver an experience that you won't forget. Smoothly shifting colors and intensities play across your senses, as plasma lighting, incandescent Xenon lighting, Lumia effects, halogen uplighting, downlighting and sconces, wall washes, state-of-the-art LED floods and more all can be summoned from a central control to transform the room in an infinite number of variations. Or just set the room on computer command as the space subtly sweeps across the spectrum. The Morpheus Room sets you
free to explore the possibilities - and it's only at Lightology.
History of Light Exhibit

Lightology invites visitors to experience the development of electric lighting from its earliest days through the present. The showroom at 215 West Chicago Avenue features two specially-designed stairways with interactive displays that take viewers on a walk through time. Start at ground level by learning about Thomas Edison’s pioneering work in developing the first practical light bulb (click here for a video clip).
Then lay your hands on a (safe!) demonstration of the principles discovered by Nikola Tesla as he strove to light the world with alternating current electricity. Other technical displays focus on neon, fluorescent and even LED lighting, with informative wall text throughout. The presentation continues upstairs - a second floor “hall of fame” profiles some significant light fixture designers, and another stairway takes a look at important moments of lighting application and design. Sure to be a crowd-pleaser is an authentic small-scale installation of the lighted dance floor from the film “Saturday Night Fever”, complete with music and a mirrorball! The exhibit ends on a contemporary note, with an introduction to the practice of architectural lighting design. Peruse profiles of outstanding designers who have helped to bring this young industry into its own since the disco era.
