Space Tour: Country Cottage

Chen and her family decided to purchase a late 1980s Cape Cod-style house, but you'd never guess it when looking at the interior today. Clever interior design choices made by Hendricks Churchill combined with Chen's impeccable sense of style give the space a far older feel. When asked about the aesthetic, Chen compared the color palette to the feeling of "putting on a warm, gray cashmere sweater." Soothing blues, grays and neutrals combine with functional vintage furniture chosen to hold up to her two active children.

The result of this extensive remodel: a warm, elegant home that is both livable and lacks pretension. Removed walls allowed for more expansive spaces, new built-ins created valuable multipurpose spaces. The lighting throughout is both functional and beautiful, still modern but never out of step with the vintage cottage aesthetic.
