Specification Sheet / Technical Files
Founded in 1932 from an idea by Gio Ponti, FontanaArte is one of the Italian companies that have written the history of lighting and furnishing in Italy and around the world. They have involved the most important architects and lighting designers, who together with the company have built a cultural project on architecture, lighting and furnishings. Timeless objects, with splendid shapes, some of which have become design classics on show in the most important museums around the world.
Franco Raggi was born in Milan in 1945, where he graduated with a degree in architecture in 1969. From 1971 until 1976, he was the editor of the magazine Casbella, and from 1977 until 1980 he was editor-in-chief of the design magazine Modo, which he directed until 1983. In 1973 Franco Raggi and Aldo Rossi organized the International Architecture Department of the Milan Triennial. Again in 1973 he organized the first critical exhibition on the Italian Radical Design for the IDZ (Internationale Design Zentrum) of Berlin. Franco Raggi designed structures, settings, exhibitions, books, magazines, stage designs, habitats and objects; the latest for various companies including Fontana Arte, Cappellini, Poltronova, Luceplan, Tendentse, Roset Francia and Barovier.
