Galatea Pendant

MFR ID: GALATEA-SM-BLK-BLK

Item #: IAC620737

The Galatea Pendant is inspired by the story of the love between Acis and the sea-nymph Galatea appears in Ovid's Metamorphoses; theirs is a story of love and destructive jealousy. The jealous Cyclops Polyphemus, who also loves Galatea, finds them embracing and crushes Acis with a boulder. Galatea saves Acis by changing him into an immortal river spirit. This story has inspired many works of art through the centuries, namely the operatic contata, Aci, Galatea e Polifemo (1708), by George Frideric Handel. This pendant features a single light pendant with an inner glass globe of Pink or Black. The metal structure around the glass is constructed of powder coat finish in Black or plated steel in Brass. Includes a nine foot adjustable cord. Fixtures come with a 40 watt Globe bulb, but can take up to 100 watts. If 100 watt bulb is used a dimmer is recommended. Handmade in the USA

Note: Black/Brass option is no loger available.
