Stepping into this exquisite, stylish home, you may be surprised to learn that it dates back to the early 1900s. Even more impressive is the painstaking thought and care that went into this extensive update.
The talented designers at J. House & Co. paid homage to the original owner's life in the remodel - a promise the new owner made to the former owner's daughters when buying the home. Whether coincidence or serendipity, owners both old and new share some interests and hobbies. These are now incorporated as details that tell a story throughout each room.
The office is a space of quiet sophistication. Warm wood panelled walls and carefully chosen antique details combine to create a calming space for focus or relaxation. The decor reveals the current and former owners' shared interest in antique cars and mountain hiking. The iconic Taccia Table Lamp by FLOS adds warm, diffused light with an industrial edge. The Cassia Linear Pendant floats overhead, putting a modern twist on a mid-century design.
The designers aimed to incorporate mid-century modern fixtures and accents throughout the finished home. At the same time, it was important to create a space where the entire family would feel comfortable. The lakeside setting inspired the design and accents in many rooms, like the wallpaper and Arti Pendant lighting that elevate the charming laundry room. It also posed another essential requirement: As a lake house, the furnishings needed to be durable enough to hold up after fun outdoor activities.
Lighting is layered beautifully throughout the lakehouse. Overhead lighting like the Barclay Ceiling Lights brighten the space with warm ambient light. Strip lighting defines contours and elevates the bathroom with a contrasting glow. Targeted accent lights like the Mona Picture Light highlight artwork and decor moments. In the kitchen, the nautical Mercer Wall Sconces radiate from above. Gorgeous wall sconces, floor lamps and table lamps throughout the home cast effective task lighting where needed. Like the lovely Jane Wall Lights, which illuminate the dining table without taking away from the stunning lake view.
Large windows bring the beauty of Eagle Mountain Lake indoors, bathing the living and dining spaces in natural light. Intricate tilework brings stunning geometry to many spaces, from the entranceway floor to the kitchen walls and surround for the freestanding mid-century-inspired woodburning fireplace. Full of personal touches and stories, this home celebrates its gorgeous natural setting and the families who enjoy it.
