Mogens Lassen

Mogens Lassen (1901 - 1987) is widely considered to be one of Denmark's greatest and most influential architects and designers. Lassen was born in Copenhagen and trained as a mason before being admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1923. On a trip to Paris from 1927 to 1928, he was introduced to Le Corbusier's works, inspiring him to create innovate modern homes upon his return to Denmark.

Lassen was inspired by Bauhaus sensibilities, and as his career progressed he became a pioneer of Danish Functionalism. His furniture designs are characterized by a distinctive presence that does not draw undue attention to itself, allowing objects to fit naturally into their environment.
