Nynke Tynagel

Born in the Netherlands to parents who were both graduates of the Eindhoven Design Academy, it was no surprise when Nynke Tynagel (b. 1977) decided to study graphic design at the same institution. Upon graduation, Tynagel became joint owner of the art and design collective Studio Job, where she helped craft a body of work that merged contemporary design with visual arts. She now works as an independent artist and designer and has worked with brands such as Qeeboo and Fatboy.

Tynagel's designs are intense but harmonious, with a wide range of influences from pop art cartoons to traditional heraldry, and presented in a variety of media including textiles, ceramics, marquetry and printing. Her use of expressive and iconographic images adds a deeper context and meaning to her designs, which often confront issues of the modern world from a playful and satirical perspective.
