Vittoriano Vigano

Vittoriano Vigano (1919-1996) was an Italian architect and designer widely considered to be the father of Italian Brutalism. Vigano graduated with a degree in architecture at the Politecnico di Milan University in 1944 and began a close partnership with Gino Sarfatti after founding his own studio in 1947. Vigano became the Art Director of Sarfatti's lighting company Arteluce in 1950 and continued producing designs for Artluce until 1960. While his work encompassed many fields ranging from architecture to industrial design to urban planning, Vigano's designs are all influenced by the idea that design is a vehicle for human development and improvement of the quality of life for all.
