Gianfranco Frattini

An architecture graduate of Milan Politecnico, Gianfranco Frattini became an industrial designer by default when he lacked appropriate lighting and furniture for his interiors. In 1956, he co-founded the ADI. During his distinguished career, he collaborated with Gio Ponti, worked for Cassina and Acerbis, designed lamps for Artemide, was a board member of the Triennale di Milano, designed for Knoll and won many gold medals and other prizes.

He is a member of the generation that made up the Italian design movement in the late 1950s through the 1960s. His work for Artemide resulted in the Boa lamp together with Livio Castiglioni, and the Megaron lamp as well as several furniture collections for Cassina and exhibits for Ferrari.
