The Gropius Low Chair is named after Walter Gropius, the German architect and co-founder of the influential Bauhaus school and pays homage to his pioneering work in modern design. The Bauhaus movement is known for objects and buildings composed of simple geometric forms and a focus on the intersection of functionalism and artistic expression.

These design principles are still relevant today and are reflected in the chair's combination of circular and cylindrical forms. The chair possesses a sculptural elegance that remains playful and inviting for more casual spaces. The seat and backrest are filled with a foam cushion fill, making Gropius as comfortable as it is stylish.

      About Kateryna Sokolova

      Ukrainian industrial designer Kateryna Sokolova was born in 1984.

      Kateryna graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts with a masters in Industrial Design. She held an internship at German Design University "Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle".

      From 2011 till 2017 Kateryna collaborated with French company Jarre Technologies, related to develop and design video and musical hi-tech product around the name and the experience of famous french musician Jean Michel Jarre.

      Participant and winner of a lot of European design exhibitions and competitions with the most important of them the Red Dot Design Award in 2015.

      Today, Kateryna is an internationally established designer based in Kiev. She is co-founder and creative director of the brand NOOM and SOKOLOVA design studio with a design team working in a wide range of disciplines: furniture, lighting, hardware, electronics, environment.
