Enzo Mari is often considered a master of Italian design. Generally categorized as a modernist, Mari has influenced contemporary product and furniture design through his adherence to the "Arts and Crafts Movement", a style of craftsmanship utilizing basic forms while increasing awareness to the harms of over-industrialization within the design community.
Born in Novara, Italy in 1932 with studies at the Brera Academy of Milan, Enzo Mari immersed himself among the vibrant Italian design community, founding the Nuova Tendenza art movement and teaching at various Italian institutions such as the University of Parma, the Accademia Carrara, Milan Polytechnic, ISIA, Hochschule der Kunste, and the Hochschule fur angewandte Kunst in Vienna.
