The Ayno Table Lamp tests the boundaries of adjustable lighting, paring down to the essentials while delivering good design, technology, and sustainability. Developed in collaboration with industrial designer Stefan Diez, it features a flexible fiberglass rod bent into an arc by the fabric-covered power cord. The cord is held taught by two adjustment rings that slide along the rod and stem to adjust the tension, pulling the arc tighter or letting it widen. By changing the rod arc and swiveling the lamp shade, light direction can be adjusted to properly illuminate your work space or reading nook. The on/off switch is on the cord which is available in black or an eye-catching neon orange.
Winner of the 2021 German Sustainability Award and 2022 Bundespreis Ecodesign, this lamp has a black steel stem and base and ABS shade that are made of recycled materials and are recyclable. Resource consumption during production is extremely low due to the lamp's minimalistic construction. Its simple form makes maintenance easy and the LED head can be replaced by the user without tools, extending the lifespan of the lamp.

About Stefan Diez
Growing up in a household of 4th-generation carpenters, Stefan Diez's early bond with craftsmanship profoundly shaped his development as an industrial designer. Following family tradition, he trained as a cabinetmaker before studying industrial design under Richard Sapper at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. Working with Konstantin Grcic for several years, Stefan graduated in 2002 and founded DIEZ OFFICE in Munich. From 2007 onwards Stefan was Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe, joining the School of Industrial Design Lund, Sweden, in 2015. Since 2018 Stefan Diez is Head of Industrial Design at Die Angewandte in Vienna.
In 2008, DIEZ OFFICE moved into the renovated premises of a former joinery, the ideal platform for Diez's distinct combination of hands-on experimentation and technical know-how. Led by curiosity and supported by a network of local craftsmen and specialists, DIEZ OFFICE is dedicated to transforming ideas into actual products with great diligence and proficiency. Together with his team, Stefan Diez has been exploring a broad spectrum of design, creating award-winning furniture, luminaires and accessories.
Originally founded in 1919 by famous engineer Curt Fischer, Midgard brought true innovation to the beginning of the 20th century. Fischer is considered the inventor of tractable light and his products were found in Bauhaus, a well-known German Art School. Midgard was restructured in 2015 by David Einsiedler and Joke Rasch and production currently takes place in Hamburg, Germany. All products are made under the use of original tools and feature a functionality and simplicity that is highly sought after.
