Space Tour: Sol Haus

The main floor of Sol Haus features an open-concept living space and cathedral ceilings. The objective of this project was to create a relaxing space that felt open and connected. The large glass wall that separates the space is linked with the illusion of the Lazer Line system running right through it. To keep with the modern minimalist design, channel lighting was added under the kitchen cabinets and the Zipp Linear Suspension over the kitchen island.

Natural elements, like the exposed wood beams, bring the outdoors in and play well with the minimalist lighting and metalic and glass framing to create an airy space that feels part rustic, part luxe. TruLine architectural recessed lighting brings illumination to corners and doorways without cluttering the view, following the shapes of the existing architecture in a truly innovative way.

The outdoor oasis is as astonishing as the inside, thanks to a verdant backyard and large heated pool. For the cold Michigan months, the hot tub and sauna take over. A variety of loungey outdoor furniture surrounds the pool for daytime sunning, while Adirondack chairs encircle the bonfire pit for those cherished Midwestern nights.

The custom sauna - constructed from a repurposed shipping container - is that final touch in the backyard that takes this vacation home to resort status.
