The Boden Table Lamp is streamlined but sculptural with an elongated shade supported by a sinuous tubular base. The shade houses an integrated LED light source and can be rotated 330 degrees to direct its light. Boden is perfectly suited as a reading light flanking a bed or as a task lamp on a desk. RISD trained designer, David Weeks, has taken a on approach to his work since starting his studio in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn. Since 1996. Weeks' designs are rooted in universal appeal and sculptural sensibility. From his background in art, Weeks transitioned into the design realm after apprenticing under jewelry designer Ted Muehling and soon found a passion for lighting. With this new discovered passion, Weeks committed to process of design that he labels as formal reduction -- which involves slicing away at generic shapes like orbs and cones until new forms emerge.
Weeks' work has been used in projects for Barney's New York, Kate Spade, Saks Fifth Avenue, MGM Grand Las Vegas, Bliss Spa, Brasserie NYC and the W Hotels. Additional honors include several nominations for the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award and being chosen as one of seven designers to represent New York at Berlin's 7+7 Designmai exhibit. Weeks was also featured in the 2003 Cooper Hewitt National Design Triennial: Inside Design Now.
