About the Designer
Jonathan Adler began his design career as a dedicated potter, with his first commercial collection appearing in Barney’s New York in 1994. Five years later he expanded into home furnishings and opened his first store in Soho. Now, with over 25 stores worldwide and an internationally recognized namesake brand of home furnishings, accessories, and lighting, Jonathan Adler is a design force to be reckoned with.
Citing mid-century modern design, art, and global pop culture as the source of his inspiration, Jonathan Adler combines colorful optimism with a serious design philosophy to achieve his signature style. In addition to building his own design empire, Adler has also collaborated with a number of noteworthy brands.
Adler redesigned the Park Palm Springs Hotel in 2004, and in 2009 he was commissioned by Mattel to design the interior of a 50th Anniversary Barbie Dream House. In the realm of lighting, Adler offers his own complete collection of stunning luminaires, and he has also designed some of Robert Abbey’s most popular modern lighting fixtures.
I love all of Jonathan Adler's fixtures but the Meurice is utterly charming and sophisticated all at once. It can go in any style of interior, from contemporary to modern to transitional. It's such a diverse piece.
