Designed by Monika Mulder, the Mobil Collection by Pholc was conceived in response to a simple brief: create a lamp that would look at home in a New York loft. Mulder drew inspiration from black metal fire escapes and the round streetlights of the Brooklyn Bridge, translating those references into slender frames punctuated by opal glass globes. Equal components are linked together so that rotating individual sections changes the composition, giving the pendant the mobile-like quality behind its name. The collection extends across pendant, wall and table lighting in black, brass and other finishes, allowing its combination of linear metalwork and spherical glass to be repeated throughout an interior. Mobil's recognizable geometry works particularly well in dining areas, living spaces and bedrooms where the fixtures can provide softly diffused light without the visual weight of conventional shades.
