The Guest is one of Lladro's most recognizable contemporary porcelain creations, conceived by designer Jaime Hayon as a blank three-dimensional canvas for artistic collaboration. Rather than maintaining a single decorative treatment, the character has been reinterpreted by an international roster of designers and artists including Tim Biskup, Gary Baseman, Camille Walala, Henn Kim and Ricardo Cavolo. Each edition retains the recognizable silhouette while introducing a different combination of imagery, color and surface treatment. Produced using Lladro's porcelain expertise, The Guest bridges collectible sculpture, contemporary art and decorative design. Different sizes and limited editions make the collection particularly suited to shelves, consoles and other locations where the intricate porcelain decoration can be viewed closely. The continuing collaborations have allowed the same underlying character to evolve through numerous visual languages, making The Guest a distinctive expression of Lladro's more experimental side.
