I replaced an old transformer for cable lighting using halogen bulbs because I wanted to use LED lights. I didn't replace the wiring gauge as suggested because it meant tearing apart a wall. Because the wiring was set up for more power, it meant dimmer lights. However, this was anticipated and it wasn't a problem for our lighting situation.
Installation was easy, replaced 9 halogen bulbs with LED, and the lighting looks great.
