About Gerardo Mari

Shop This Designer

Born in Santa Fe, Argentina, in 1977, Gerardo Mari is a designer, inventor, and musician who turns ideas and narratives into products that engage users and spark curiosity. After building a technical foundation at the Escuela Industrial Superior, he earned a degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Nacional de Crdoba in 2003. That same year he began crafting aluminum lap steel electric guitars, and in 2004 he co-founded Dozo with Ricardo Mielniczuk to produce his own armchair designs.

From 2005 to 2013, Mari served as Head of the Product Design Department at Artemide, guiding new products through every stage from aesthetics and function to technical development. Since 2014 he has run his own studio, designing and managing product development for a range of companies, including the Hibou lamp, launched in 2021 with Stefania Loschi. His deep understanding of production techniques lets him lead projects from concept through engineering and manufacturing, with a consistent focus on innovation, usability, and human connection.
