  • What is a light canopy?

      • A canopy is the part of a light fixture that is installed on a ceiling or wall and covers the electrical junction box. Canopies are mainly used to conceal the electrical box and the wiring. Because they come in different sizes, shapes, and finishes, canopies can be used in various settings. They can also be used to create modern multi-light chandeliers or to provide a mix of functional task lighting and decorative accents.

  • What is a multiport canopy light?

      • A multiport canopy light is a type of lighting fixture that allows for the connection of multiple light sources, such as pendants or spotlights, to a single canopy. This type of canopy is often used in conjunction with freejack lighting systems, which provide a plug-and-play solution for easily swapping out or moving lights without cutting into the ceiling. Multiport canopies come in various sizes, shapes, and finishes, and can be used to create modern multi-light chandeliers or to provide a mix of functional task lighting and decorative accents in various spaces.

  • What kinds of lights require a canopy or backplate for installation?

      • A canopy is a metal fixture that covers the junction box for a lighting fixture. In the US, electrical codes require that any light fixture that is hardwired (with some exceptions) must be installed using a canopy or backplate.
