Designed by Ross LovegroveRead Bio

Create a breathtaking sculptural statement on your ceiling with the Skydro Non-Electrified Ceiling Sculpture. This unique fixture is a stunning piece of modern art, designed to captivate with its reflective qualities rather than traditional illumination. It is meticulously crafted from ABS injection-molded reflective units and a die-cast aluminum unit, all supported by a robust painted steel bearing structure. The ingenious modularity of the system allows for countless configurations simply by adding extra units, giving you unparalleled freedom to design a custom, undulating ceiling landscape. It's important to note that this fixture does not have any light output itself; its purpose is purely aesthetic, reflecting ambient light and creating dynamic visual interest. UL listed for safety, customers describe it as mesmerizing, a true centerpiece, and an architectural marvel. Ideal for grand living rooms, modern entryways, or commercial spaces where a non-illuminated, sculptural design element is desired, the Skydro Non-Electrified Ceiling Sculpture offers a truly contemporary and impactful visual experience.

About Ross Lovegrove

Shop This Designer

Ross Lovegrove was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1958 and quickly began his career in industrial design after earning a Bachelor's of Design from Manchester Polytechnic and his Master's of Design from the Royal College of Art in London. Lovegrove's career has covered many industries other than lighting, from a job designing Walkmans for Sony in Germany in the 1980s to working on airplane designs for Airbus today. In 2005, he was awarded CNN's World Technology Prize and in 2006 he was given the Good Design Award. These two awards are among a multitude of other prestigious prizes that have helped to define Lovegrove's career as long and prosperous.

Lovegrove's "recipe" for a masterpiece is to take nature's designs and apply them to the world of industry. Using such natural patterns as sand dune waves, fractal growth, and the Fibonacci sequence, he creates pieces of engineering that are not only functionally sound, but undeniable works of art as well. This results in products that appear to as fluid as water, but in fact are as rigid as metal. This results in a beautiful combination of nature and industry that defines not only Lovegrove's work, but creative design of the 21st century.
