The Colchester Ceiling Light features raffia that is densely woven around the circumference of the fixture. Clarence Mallari designed the rope flush mount to be luminous. Choices that enhance the glow include the sugar white finish, the acrylic diffuser, the way the light flows onto the ceiling, and the weave that allows the light to seep through.

About Clarence Mallari
Clarence Mallari is a senior lighting designer at Currey & Company, where he shapes expressive, finely crafted fixtures rooted in material storytelling and artisanal technique. Mallari leans into the tactile potential of mixed media - braided rope, wrought iron, hand-woven wicker, seeded glass - combining them into forms that feel both organic and rigorously composed. His designs often reference historical - and sometimes whimsical - sources: for example, his Quennell chandelier evokes the seeded glass canisters of classic lanterns, while his Emmental chandelier plays on concentric rings inspired by the look of Swiss cheese.
