Designed in 1958 by Poul Henningsen for the iconic Langelinie Pavillonen in Copenhagen, the PH Artichoke remains a captivating masterpiece that continues to enchant contemporary visitors. This world-renowned sculptural design has elevated the PH Artichoke to international design icon status.
Featuring 72 meticulously positioned leaves, the PH Artichoke ensures glare-free illumination from any angle. Much of its production process is still meticulously carried out by hand to maintain impeccable quality standards. With its original copper finish, this illustrious fixture radiates warm and ambient light, creating an inviting atmosphere.
In addition to the classic copper finish, the PH Artichoke is now available in brushed and polished steel, as well as white painted metal models, showcasing its timeless versatility. Notably, in 2018, Louis Poulsen celebrated the design's 60th anniversary by introducing a stunning brushed brass edition.
Poul Henningsen's original design incorporated solid copper leaves with a satin finish on the exterior and a rose finish on the interior, creating a unique and inviting ambiance. To honor Henningsen's 125th birthday, Louis Poulsen is re-launching the PH Artichoke in its original materials and finish, offering the copper rose edition for sale exclusively in 2019, available in all PH Artichoke sizes. Each special edition will bear Poul Henningsen's signature engraving, commemorating the designer's birthday.
