      The No. 8 Dining Chair was originally designed in 1953 by Helge Sibast and quickly became an icon of the Danish Modern design movement. The Y-shaped frame and curving, molded backrest create the chair's uniquely modern expression, while the spindle back is reminiscent of older styles such as the Windsor chair. The technical expertise required to create such a design is a testament to Helge Sibast's exacting vision that honors the rich tradition of Danish craftsmanship.

      The No. 8 Dining Chair is available in a variety of upholstery options. Dunes Leather is an aniline leather with a matte surface that shows natural markings, and it will patina to a smoother and shinier finish with use and time. Victory Leather is a protected leather with a more uniform surface grain and few visible natural markings. Spectrum is a semi-aniline leather with a light finish that resembles fully aniline leather while providing a greater degree of protection from stains and fading.

      Helge Sibast (1908 - 1985) created a number of iconic chair designs in the mid-20th Century that helped popularize Danish Modern design and are still in demand today. In 1908 Sibast's father founded Sibast Mobler, a furniture and cabinetmaking company, where Sibast learned the joinery trade and developed an eye for design from an early age. After their father's passing in 1943, Helge Sibast and his two siblings took charge of the company, where he was put in charge of design, product development, and production.

      Sibast's designs are marked by the exploring the potential of wood as a material and the development of new production techniques. His chair designs are elegant and sculptural, offering uniquely complex forms made with expert craftsmanship.
