Art Deco Style
Art Deco draws its roots from Cubism, Fauvism, and Ballet Russes. One of the first architectural and interior design styles to go international - thanks in part to the Worlds Fair - Art Deco boomed in Paris and the United States in the early Twentieth Century, slowly falling out of fashion during the Great Depression and into the '40s when modernism began to take hold. Characterized by streamlined shapes, cubist geometries, luxurious materials and repeating patterns, Art Deco style influenced everything from architecture and interior design to dresses, radio, trains and vacuum cleaners. Gatsby glamour, '20s flappers, the Chrysler building in New York City and colorful downtown Miami all derived from Deco. Celebrate one of the most iconic styles of the past century.
