Victorian Style
The late 19th century saw a shift in the arts, architecture and design. The era of Queen Victoria's rule over the United Kingdom moved away from the Georgian rationalism that drove philosophy, art, architecture and decor, ushering in an aesthetic driven by romanticism and mysticism we now call Victorian style. Highly ornate and elegant, Victorian design references Gothic and Baroque styles for a look that's the opposite of minimalist. Emblazoned metals, sinuous and winding forms and Damask patterns forge designs that feel historic, haute and somewhat haunted.
