The Falkland Pendant by Artemide is a poetic dance between tension and form, an iconic piece designed by Bruno Munari in 1964. Far more than just a light fixture, it's a living sculpture that gracefully adapts to its environment, embodying a timeless design that remains relevant and captivating even today.
Crafted from a finely woven elastic fabric stretched over a series of metal rings of varying diameters, the Falkland creates an organic silhouette that's both fluid and strikingly adaptable. A single internal light source, paired with a subtle aluminum reflector, illuminates the fabric from within, highlighting its delicate texture and elegant curves. This unique construction also allows the Falkland to be compressed for shipping, gracefully expanding into its full, beautiful shape upon installation. The result is a soft, diffused light that creates a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for dining areas, living rooms, or commercial spaces. Bruno Munari (1907-1998) was one of the greatest figures of 20th-century art, design, and graphics. He devoted his creative activity to testing, with special focus on children's life and games. Without ever separating contents from forms and materials, he designed books, play-books, and toys to stimulate thinking. His creations in the fields of painting, sculpture, design, photography, and education span across his poetic approaches, along the wake of his unique personality.
