About Sophie Lou Jacobsen
Based in New York City, Sophie Lou Jacobsen is a French-American designer specializing in creating everyday objects using glass. She sets her focus on producing simple pieces with a unique look. Jacobsen believes we should surround ourselves with delightful objects to create a sense of poetry in our lives.
Jacobsen collaborated with Nick Ozemba and Felicia Hung of In Common With to create the Flora Series. This series features classic Venetian glassmaking techniques to marry old-world craftsmanship with contemporary Italian influences. The Flora pieces showcase botanical silhouettes with a romantic aesthetic and playful color palate. Inspired by nature and crafted by hand, no two pieces will ever be the same.
Based in Brooklyn, In Common With draws from the midcentury and Scandinavian modern movements to create something chic and classic. Their blend of materials and strikingly simple forms ensure that each fixture stands the test of time, and looks great doing it.

Is this wall sconce dimmable?
April 21, 2026
Answer
Yes. The included LED bulbs feature built-in Warm Dim technology. When wired to a standard compatible wall dimmer switch, lowering the light level doesn't just make it less bright, it seamlessly drops the color temperature down into a warmer, candle-like amber tone (shifting from 3000K down to a very cozy 2200K).
How uniform are the glass pieces, and what should I expect if ordering a matching pair?
April 20, 2026
Answer
Because each slumped glass shade is individually handmade by shaping heated glass over custom plaster molds, you can expect minor structural and aesthetic variations. There may be tiny natural bubbles captured inside the glass layers, and the physical dimensions can vary by up to an inch. If you are ordering a pair to flank a bathroom mirror or a bed, these subtle differences should be expected as a mark of genuine artisan production rather than a manufacturing defect.
What type of illumination does this fixture provide, and does it come with bulbs?
April 19, 2026
Answer
The Vera sconce provides soft, indirect ambient light. It features a side-by-side layout utilizing two small 4W E12 candelabra base LED bulbs, which are conveniently included with the fixture. The light shines upward and outward behind the slumped glass panel, throwing a gentle, decorative glow against the wall rather than pushing a harsh beam forward.
Can this sconce be installed in tight hallways or walkways without violating building codes?
April 18, 2026
Answer
Yes, it is perfectly suited for tight spaces. The Vera sconce features an ultra-shallow depth profile of only 3.5 inches from the wall to the outermost edge of the glass. Because it extends less than 4 inches, it is ADA compliant, making it a safe and elegant option for narrow hallways, steep stairwells, or powder rooms where space is at a premium.
