The Phebe Tiered Chandelier is a dynamic design by Clarence Mallari that showcases the talents of our weavers and his own skill at working with natural materials. The chandelier has such a cohesive appearance because the circular wire frames are wrapped in the same material, then the entire fixture has been bleached. The vanilla finish of the hardware keeps the design light and airy. Clarence was inspired by a natural material story when he designed the Phebe.

About Clarence Mallari
Clarence Mallari is a senior lighting designer at Currey & Company, where he shapes expressive, finely crafted fixtures rooted in material storytelling and artisanal technique. Mallari leans into the tactile potential of mixed media - braided rope, wrought iron, hand-woven wicker, seeded glass - combining them into forms that feel both organic and rigorously composed. His designs often reference historical - and sometimes whimsical - sources: for example, his Quennell chandelier evokes the seeded glass canisters of classic lanterns, while his Emmental chandelier plays on concentric rings inspired by the look of Swiss cheese.
