      About Jacques Adnet

Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) was a French architect, designer, and a leading proponent of the Modernist movement. After studying at the Auxerre School of Design and L'Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, he founded the company JJ Adnet, along with his brother Jean. Adnet quickly became a rising star of the design world, and in 1925 he was recognized as one of France's leading young designers by both the Salon d'Automne and Les Expositions des Arts Decoratifs. From 1928 to 1960, Adnet worked as the director of the Compagnie des Arts Franais, where he collaborated with other prominent designers such as Franois Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand and Georges Jouve. In addition to designing furniture, Adnet also designed apartments and offices for UNESCO and French president Vincent Auriol. Because of his pioneering vision and innovative use of both form and materials, Adnet remains an icon of Modernist design to this day.
