Designed by Mathieu MategotRead Bio
Originally designed in 1954 by Mathieu Mategot, the Bagdad Portable Table Lamp features a unique, geometric silhouette that showcases the designer's affinity for perforated metal as a material. The lamp's faceted body is accented with an elongated, comet-like tail for a bold expression.
This updated version of Mategot's original design has been scaled down and features a built-in rechargeable battery to make it easily portable. The touch-activated dimmer provides three brightness levels (100% / 50% / 10%) to create the perfect ambiance in any space. IP44 rated for protection against splashes and low-velocity streams of water.

About Mathieu Mategot
Mathieu Matgot (1910-2001) was a self-taught Hungarian designer who settled in Paris after travelling, studying, and gaining experience in set design, window dressing, fashion, and tapestry.
He volunteered for the French army during the Second World War but was captured by the Germans and put to work in a mechanical accessories plant. It was here that he recognized the potential for perforated sheet metal to lend transparency, weightlessness and modernity to new forms. After the war, he developed Rigitulle his take on the material and his own folding, shaping, and bending technique.
