Although it is inspired by the shape of a sea urchin, the Knit Pendant eschews the urchin's protective outer armor for a soft fabric shade that creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Light seeps outward from the shade and downward through a PMMA diffuser to create a pleasing ambient glow.

Meike Harde is a multidisciplinary designer and founder of Studio Meike Harde based in Cologne, Germany. After studying product design at HBK Saar and graduating in 2011, she founded her own studio in 2013 where she has worked with brands such as Woud, Forestier, and Vibia.
Harde's work is defined by a meticulous approach that results in visually light and constructively smart designs. She uses common materials in new contexts and shapes in a way that overcomes established forms to produce new furniture, lighting, and product designs.
