Designed by Ernesto GismondiRead Bio

The Discovery Vertical Suspension by Artemide, a groundbreaking concept from Ernesto Gismondi, masterfully blurs the lines between presence and absence, transforming from a seemingly imperceptible element into a breathtaking display of light. This fixture redefines what a luminous object can be. At its core, a slender ring, available in sophisticated Aluminum, Black, or Bronze finishes, subtly houses an advanced LED strip. This strip projects light into a specially engineered surface, composed of transparent PMMA and embedded with micro-particles so infinitesimally small that the surface is virtually imperceptible when the light is off. Yet, when activated, the transparent interior springs to life, appearing to magically fill with a perfectly diffused and uniform radiance, turning the void into a vibrant, emissive surface. This exceptional visual effect is not only mesmerizing but also highly functional.
