About Alberto Saggia & Valerio Sommella
Alberto Saggia and Valerio Sommella have individually impacted the lighting world with their stunning designs. These two incredible designers came together for the creation of the Kushi light for Kundalini.
Born in Novara (1978), Saggia graduated from Politecnico of Milian with a focus in lighting design. Once Saggia finished his degree in 2004, he then began working with the Metis Lighting Studio of Milian where he was the head of the product design and custom fixtures team. Over the course of ten years, Saggia saw to multiple projects of high importance like Gioielleria DAMINI and Le Allegorie Piloni. In more recent years, Saggia has been teaching lighting designs classes at the university level as well as works on other graphic and design projects.
Born in Cortona (1980), Valerio Sommella graduated from Politecnico of Milian in 2004 with Saggia. He later began working with Stefano Giovannoni where the commencement of his design career took place. Sommella soon moved to Amsterdam where he started working with Marcel Wanders, creative director of Moooi and his team. In 2009, he settled in Milan, opening his own design studio and developing products in a variety of fields: furniture, electronics and lighting, all of which are available to Italian and international clients. Some of his projects include: Specimina, Pulse and Eva.
