Astep was founded in 2008 by Alessandro Sarfatti, who is the third generation in his family to lead a lighting design company. Astep looks to the future but also honors the design traditions of the past. The company creates new lighting products for the home and also re-edits iconic lighting designs. Sarfatti's family has a long history in the lighting design business. His grandfather, Gino Sarfatti, founded Arteluce in 1959, a company that produced some of the most iconic lighting designs of the 20th century. Astep respects the legacy of Arteluce, but also looks to create new and innovative lighting products for the 21st century. Astep's products are designed to improve people's lives. The company's designers focus on creating products that are both functional and beautiful. Astep's products are made from high-quality materials and are built to last. Astep prioritizes social and environmental responsibility, and is a Certified B Corporation. The company also offers a wide range of products to suit different tastes and budgets.

    About Santi Borachia

    Shop This Designer

Santi Borachia was the design team of Carlo Santi (1925-2004) and Vittorio Borachia (1920-2015), who met as students at the Politecnico di Milan University in the 1940s. After graduation, the duo worked closely with the company Arteluce, which attracted many talented designers of the time thanks to founder Gino Sarfatti's experimental approach. While they eventually transitioned into the field of urban planning, they occasionally returned to lighting and furniture design both individually and as a team. Their approach was guided by the use of cutting edge materials and production techniques while maintaining elegant aesthetics.
