This is a beautiful light and it is perfect in our living room. The scale and design are just what I hoped it would be. I don't write many reviews but I'm doing this because I wish someone had written a review before I bought this light to describe the assembly required. The light arrives in a flat box about 20x 24 and 2" thick. When I saw it I was not sure if they'd sent the right light. Inside I found that the 12 sections of the light are flat pieces of bendable "plywood" plus a couple of hoops and electrical parts. The instructions included were not sufficient at all - barely helpful. I'm a professional woodworker and builder and I'm certain I'm in the 95th percentile of people who should be able to assembly this light and for me it was still a nail biter. Having a second person would have helped (but perhaps not your spouse). What I learned: 1. The tangs on the small hoop need to face down during assembly. 2. The tangs on the big hook must face up. 3. The smaller flap at the top and bottom of each section have to be bent a lot while you force the hoop into the hole and then you have to carefully push that flap back over the hoop. This will make sense when you see it and it is also stressful because breaking a flap is very possible - though I did not break any 4. After you get all the sections on the hoops have a glass of wine. You'll need a break! 5. Set the lamp upside down on a table and make sure all the sections are sitting evenly. Use a hot melt glue gun to glue in between the sections so that when you look up into the light all the "seams" look straight. Keep the light on a flat surface while you spot glue all the sections. I did not do this and mine turned out a little wonky.
I would not recommend this light to most people frankly. The assembly is really tough and I can't believe the price of the light considering the assembly. It took me several hours! But it is a beautiful light and I have not seen anything like it. Now that it's up I do love it- begrudgingly.
